February 27 | Tanzania, Africa: Heifer International Program
Connected to my Arkansas roots again, I visited today with one of the Heifer International programs to see how they are helping Tanzanians improve their lives. Heifer’s plan is to “pass on the gift.” Residents of a local area are taught to grow crops to provide food for themselves, and, in turn, these people are to help teach others how to do the same thing. Tanzania is a very poor country with an extreme climate and limited resources. Agriculture is the main economic activity, but growing things in a hot, arid land is not easy. Heifer works hard to help the local people create sustainable agriculture, something that can and will be continued and will feed the people.
