August 23 | New York: Harlem Elementary School
The people at the Alliance asked me if I would like to visit some schools that have been impacted by the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program. The Healthy Schools Program provides real tools and solutions for schools to become healthier places for students and teachers. Tony took me to an elementary school in Harlem, where I got to hear from kids my age about the school. The kids told me all about their fitness program, where empty school classrooms were made into fitness centers. These fitness centers include all kids of fun activities: dancing, aerobics, and even weight training. I liked the weight training center … I was able to lift over 50 lbs. For lunch, we had pizza with salad. The pizza was delicious and the kids told me it was very healthy. I never knew healthy food could taste so good.

After lunch, I was surprised by a special visitor to the school … former President Bill Clinton. President Clinton told me that he was expecting me to arrive, and he was pleased to see how much I was enjoying the work that Governor Beebe and Mrs. Beebe had sent me to do. I told President Clinton that I was honored to be able to see all the good works going on in the world. He told me that there is much more to see, even here in New York. President Clinton then presented me with tickets to a New York Yankee’s game. He said that Tony and I could go with him to watch a game tomorrow since it is Saturday. This is bound to be one day of pure FUN. I wonder if I will get to meet any players.

Hey … while I am getting ready for the big Yankee game, why don’t you check out all the projects sponsored by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation at their Website: http://www.healthiergeneration.org/default.aspx.
