September 14 | Learing About Belize
With the help of a Creole interpreter, I talked to a man who had climbed Victoria Peak! Few do it, but he and some friends were successful. They told me of clear streams and jaguar markings, and of days spent listening to toucans. I wish I could have gone along with them. Today I also toured other areas of southern Belize and was told of all the social problems these citizens face: no jobs, drugs, urban crime, high prices, and a lack of clean drinking water. No wonder the Belize Medical Council was on my list of stops.
