September 30 | Arrive in Australia
Hi guys! Maybe I should say, “G’day mates.” Can you tell I have made it to Australia? This is the land down under where summer is in the winter and the winter is in the summer! During the warm months, October to April, the average high temperature is between 78 degrees F and 74 degrees F. During the cold months, May to September, the average high temperature is 68 degrees F. Low temperatures range from 44 degrees F to 65 degrees F. The climate is tropical. Along the west coast there is a sea breeze known as "the Doctor" in the summer.
Australia is also unique geographically. Australia is the world's smallest continent, but sixth-largest country; the population of 20,434,176 is concentrated along the eastern and southeastern coasts. In area Australia is slightly smaller than the United States’ 48 contiguous states. Australia is the land of kangaroos, Koala bears, and the duck-billed platypus. Do you know what is so unique about the duck-billed platypus? It is a mammal that lays eggs. Australia is also home to Crocodile Dundee, Mel Gibson, the Gladiator (Russell Crowe), and Nicole Kidman. Wow, I am exhausted from a long day just traveling to Australia. I really need some rest, so I can start exploring and sight-seeing tomorrow.
