October 5 | Australia: Sidney Sight-seeing
Today, I am sight-seeing in Sydney, the most populous city in Australia with over 4.8 million inhabitants. The first Aborigines migrated to Sydney about 20,000 years ago, but today the Aborigines make up a small percent of Australia’s overall population. Located on Australia’s south-east coast, Sydney has been nicknamed “the Harbor City.” Sydney has some very interesting sights like the Sydney Harbor Bridge, which opened in 1932 and is 3769 feet long. It is also home to The Rocks, an area in Sydney that was the original site of the first convict settlement and today houses some of Sydney’s finest restaurants. Another interesting sight is the Sydney Opera House; its expressionist modern design makes it one of the most distinctive buildings of the 20th century. Sydney was also the site of the 2000 Olympics and Paralympics.
